I remember downloading the ING app December of last year and I applied to open an account with them online, using my phone. Luckily enough, I got approved. But I didn't really started using it until recently, when I had a new savings goal.
Anyway, I am sharing this with you because I just received my debit card from ING Philippines. I got it totally free and I didn't even have to pay for the delivery fee. So amazing!
Applying for an ING account is pretty easy and very hassle-free.
I remember applying for my ING account last year, just few days before I left for Manila. And just like what I mentioned above, I didn't really started using it right away. I had the app on my phone for months, but didn't really open it. Not until I had this new savings goal...
So, according to their website, ING is a global bank with presence in more than 40 countries, serving more than 38.4 million customers worldwide. It is globally known as a pioneer in branchless banking and have been operating in the Philippines since 1990.
I have to be honest, I didn't really know about ING until late last year. I didn't know they've been around for that long.
Despite not knowing much about ING at first, being the risk-taker that I am, I gave it a try.
If you are planning to open an account with them, here's how:
- You must be at least 18 years old and a Filipino citizen or a resident of the Philippines.
- Download the ING App. Available in both Google Playstore and Apple App store.
- Prepare 1 government-issued ID and a proof of address.
- Open the app and tap "Open an Account".
- Select the account you want to open.
- Verify your identity.
- Enter your work and tax information.
- Take a photo of your signature.
- Confirm your details, agree to ING's Terms & Conditions, and start banking.
There are 2 types of accounts that you can choose from in ING. ING Save and ING Pay. I initially had ING Save, primarily because my purpose was to save and enjoy its high interest.
What's the difference?
Both are actually somewhat similar, but the difference with ING Pay is that it comes with virtual debit card and actual debit card, available upon request.
And when it comes to transfers, if you use ING Save to transfer to other banks, it will be via PESOnet, which is not instant. While with ING Pay, you get to transfer via InstaPay. Transfers from ING accounts are free.
You can deposit funds to your ING accounts via bank transfer from your other online bank accounts, e-wallets (GCash, PayMaya, etc.), and even a check deposit using the ING App. So cool, right?! 😊
Another thing I like about getting the debit card is that cash withdrawals at any local BancNet ATM or VISA ATM worldwide is free.
You can enjoy 4% p.a. in your first 4 months as a new ING Save customer, then a base rate of 2.5% p.a. in the succeeding months. Imagine up to 30 times higher interest rate compared to other banks! 😱
I got my VISA debit card today via Entrego. I got it in less than 7 days.
I am so excited to get the most out of my ING accounts!
